The Yard at the Cape 2010

Hi Again,
I am linking up this post with Cindy and My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday. I just came back from working in the yard at the Cape house, so I thought we should take a walk through the yard. Not too much blooming yet, but it is all ready to explode!
Down the way you will see reasons 1&2 Heeley and Hurley, why I will have to do some interior work before I can take pictures of the inside. Reason 3 (my son) is working at his job at the golf course. He really is an employee there behind the desk in the clubhouse, among other tasks. He and his dogs are moving in mid-June.
I have included a couple more snippets of the last wallpaper that was added to one of the upstairs bedrooms, so I will just let you browse. :)

Famous Couples Friday

Good Evening All,

Posting alittle early, but had a moment to do so, so here you go. This week it is Robert Wagner, they call him RJ and his Natalie Wood. They were so made for each other, they married twice. They were together for the "second time around" until her tragic death, from drowning in 1981. RJ is 80 now and has taken good care of his girls. They each had one from a marriage to another and one together. This photo is circa 1975.

They were a beautiful couple.

Dad's 75th

Hi All,
Tonight I am linking up with Susan and Between Naps on the Porch and Tablescape Thursday. This is a tablescape I did for my Dad's 75th birthday, 5 yrs ago. I hosted it at the Inn. He still plays a great game of tennis and passed the love of the sport on to me. How great it is at our ages 80 and 53 to still be able to play tennis together! I know you can spot the old wooded tennis racquets(one is his and one is mine from the 70's), but notice I put the blue party sparklies in tennis ball cans on the sideboard.

Granny's Hoosier Cabinet

Good Evening All,
Tonight I am linking up with Suzanne over at Coloradolady and Vintage Thingy Thursday. Lots of fun posts over there!
Here is my Granny's 1930's Hoosier cabinet all decked out for summer. I put the TV on it so I can see it, alot. :) The plate on the top is Paula Deen, talking about her Grandmother, so I thought it fitting. The sign tucked behind on the top shelf, our carpenter made for us with The Daisy Inn name and the date it was established.
Hope you all have a great evening.

1930's Living Room

Hi All,

I was browsing around the web this evening and I found this picture of a living room from the 30's. Remind you of anyone you know??? Well, I told you I was born in the wrong time period. I love this look, and that is probably why my cape house and cottage at the Inn resemble this look so much.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Garbo and Gilbert

Hi All,

I thought I might try a new post once in awhile called "Famous Couples Friday." I will post a picture of famous couples with a little history about them. Don't count me in for every Friday, but I will do this when time allows. Hope you enjoy my little "Famous Couple Friday" posts.

Today is Greta Garbo and John Gilbert. She was the actress from Sweden who became a great star in the 20's and 30's for MGM. He was the hearthrob across the nation. He was after Valentino and before Clark Gable, timewise.

He was very inlove with Garbo, and they starred in 3 or 4 films together. He asked her many times for her hand in marriage and she finally said "yes". The marriage would never happen and Garbo would never married. She reitred in the early 40's from the screen and settled in NYC for the rest of her life. Here is a picture of the two of them. Isn't she very modern looking.

It's A Dog's Life???

When you hear that expression, it evokes a negative thought, doesn't it? Well, here is our version of "A Dog's Life." Cocoa and Theodore in their favorite spots, checking out the world, then Theodore decides he need a more comfortable place for his afternoon nap. How about the Natutzi leather sofa, on his special blankey. Good choice! :)

Have a great day.

Pink Wallpaper

Good Morning All,
I am reposting this to participate with Chari and Sunday Favorites, posts from the past.
This is a picture I found at an antique store. It is in our bedroom, in the cottage, at the Inn.
It touched my heart, as I have a son and daughter, too. I love the time period of the picture, too, as it looks to be a young Mother from the 1920's.

Mary and Her Clothes-70's Style

You all know how I love The Mary Tyler Moore Show. This is a picture from the first episode, when Phyliss is showing her that great apartment. Is this not the neatest coat? And what about Phyliss and those shoes. I loved to see what the girls were going to be wearing, waaaaayyyyy back in the 70's. Too cool :)
Hope you are all having a great evening.

Early American Furniture

Hi Again,

I am participating with Suzanne and Vintage Thingy Thursday. I love Early American Maple, vintage furniture. This is Ethan Allen. This piece is sitting in the Inn, but will be following me back to the Cape house very soon. I found this great piece on ebay and have 2 end tables to match.

The Gables at Home

Good Evening Everyone,

It has been such a beautiful day, here in Illinois. Tonight I am posting one of my favorite pictures of Clark Gable and his Carole Lombard, at their ranch in Encino, CA. The picture was probably around 1940. They used this Dodge "woody" truck for their hunting excursions. Gable was a duck hunter, and Carole went right along with him, in the duck blinds in her hip waders.
Notice Carole's monogramed scarf.
Hope you all have a great evening.

Coffee on the Patio?

Good Evening All,

What a beautiful day this has been! I am participating in Tabletop Tuesday, with Marty over at A Stroll Thru Life. Please go over and check it out.

This is my little patio area, so far, at the Inn. I haven't been able to pot anything, yet, so it will get better, when I can sit some pots around.

Everyone have a great evening!

Cocoa and Theodore, My Poochies

Here are the poochies. I was reclining on the double chaise lounge, yesterday, enjoying the beautiful Illinois weather. Guess who had the other half?
Hope you all have a great Monday!

Memories of "The Jetsons"

Good Sunday Morning All,

The other morning, I was driving to work and Kim and Betsy on Martha Stewart radio were talking about Rosie the maid on "The Jetsons". I loved "The Jetsons" growing up and I was thinking how I would like to have "Rosie" or that one button you pushed for dinner, back at my house, when there is no time for cooking :) I'm just sayin...

Have a great Sunday and this picture of "The Jetsons".
