The Den/Reading Room Redo

Hi All,
I have been working on the upstairs "little bedroom" which was my son's room when he was little :) When he got older and needed more space, we finished a room in the basement for him. I decided to make this room into a den/reading room. Here is the before...
Some after shots...

Another...

And another. I am not finished, yet. I have pictures for the wall that will come over from the Inn and a few other touches. Hope you all have a good week. I am linking up with Met Monday and Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch and Cielo over at House in the Roses and Show Off Your Cottage Monday.

Famous Couples Friday

If I had to pick one show to watch over and over, it would probably be The Andy Griffith Show. I am seeing on TVland that they are saying it is the 50th anniversary of the show. This must say something about us. We love the simplier life and times of past, as we are still watching this classic show. Can you get any better than these two playing off each other? Andy and Barney, I think not :)

The Command Center

Good Morning All,
The command center is back and fully operational! Yippee!!! Thanks to my good friends Jake and Donna for getting rid of that nasty old virus that attacked my computer. I am happily back with all of you, my good blogging buddies!

Tabletop Tuesday

Hi All,

I hope you all are having a good Monday. I am linking up with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life and Tabletop Tues and Suzanne and Vintage Thingie Thursday. I have a couple of things to show you this time... There is my tabletop this week, way back in the corner :)

My Mom painted the picture of our house when we first moved in in 1985. It has remained in the same spot since then. Below my favorite little coffee clock, crystal salt and pepper shakers and a little geranium tin.

Another shot. Do you see the lamp hanging over the dining table. That is my Dad's and my latest project. I bought it a couple of years ago on ebay. He had to convert it over into a plug in lamp since there is no electrical box in the ceiling. It is a vintage pull down tole lamp. My Dad is still the best electrican I know. He has been doing it for almost 60 yrs. Did I mention he is 80! I love my new(old) pull down tole lamp. It is probably from the 50's.

A closer look at the top...
p.s. My good friend Janie, is having a 50.00 gift card to Target giveaway over at her place, Blonidies Journal. Be sure to go over and participate in the fun!

Mosaic Monday

Hi All,
I am linking up with Little Red House and Mosaic Monday.
I have been practicing with Picasa. My friend Kim over at Savvy Southern Style told me about it. This is my first try, so I will get better at it with more practice. Not sure this is a true mosaic but I have always wanted to join this party, so here are some olden picture of my family. Upper left, my Dad and his brothers. Dad is in the center, 1980. Isn't he handsome! Upper right, me and Mom and Dad, ca 1975. Lower left, my Dad and a high school basket ball pic, ca. 1947. Lower right, me, second from left and my cousins Susan and Sara and Granny, ca 1979.
Have a great week everyone!

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
I have not posted a Movie Star Monday post for awhile. I have been busy with moving, yard work and just general summertime duties. I am looking forward to the fall and slowing down abit and the COOLER weather. How about you??? I thought I would show you a collection of silent stars, along with some studio cheiftans. When you think of "silent stars" you get that image of the heavy makeup, grand period costumes, etc. Really, they were just regular looking people, which this photo shows so well. On the far left is Mary Pickford, seated, standing behind her is Charlie Chaplan and to the far right, seated is Douglas Fairbanks. Of course, he and Mary Pickford were married. I am sure this is probably a picture from a meeting that formed United Artists.

Hope you all have a great week ahead!

The Baby Was Home

Hi All,
I am linking up with Cindy and My Romatic Home for Show and Tell Friday. I took this shot just before we were heading back to the train, so I could drop Taylor off to return to Chicago. We had much fun doing little of nothing. Dinner together at the local pizza place, yoga on the deck, watching a soap on Soap Network late last night in bed, with Cocoa and Theodore, of course. They love soap operas! lol Of course, one of our favorite things to do is go to Dairy Queen, get a cup of coffee and a blizzard and drive around and look at houses! Yip, we did that, too!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Tabletop Tuesday

Hi All,
Tonight I am linking up with Marty and A Stroll Thru Life and Tabletop Tuesday. Here is the vignette atop of my tv cabinet.

Here is a vintage picture of my beloved Granny and her "three little boys", as she always called them. My Dad is standing beside her, the middle one, Uncle Frank, now deceased, is to Granny's left, the oldest, and Buddy the baby, is seated in front. I love this picture. As you know, I love my TV, so I look at the precious picture, alot :) Buddy will be visiting next Monday for the week for our county fair. I will put him up at one of the cottages at the Inn. He and my Dad will have a good time. Me too! We all miss that 3rd "little boy," tho. Miss you Uncle Frank.
Some garland that I purchased at my favorite gift and housewares shop, draped across a vintage tablecloth.

The wreath is Valerie Parr Hill, from QVC. I will change it out soon with her fall wreath. Yippee!!!

The Little Bedroom

Good Morning,
I have worked my way up to the little bedroom at the top of the stairs with woodwork painting, etc. This used to be my son's room, when he was little. I decided to turn it into a den/reading room:) Here are a few shots...
I brought a chair over from the Inn and added the rocking chair from the living room. I added one of my vintage Ethan Allen end tables and a tole lamp.

I left the little duck on the door, that I bought so many years ago declaring this is Jake's room :)

Another vintage maple table...
I have more to add in this room, such as pictures, etc. but this is a start!

Going to Graceland

Hi Y'all,
I had to try my best southern accent. Ok, not very good, I know. I do love that boy from the southland, tho, sooooo me and Mr. Tennis are treking down the Memphis tomorrow for a couple of days for Elvis week. Dan says I am with my kind down there :) I could go on for days about how I got to see Elvis twice, live in concert in the 70's, when I was a teenager and how it impacted my life, but I won't. I will say tho, that he had it all. Talent, looks and charisma, plus he loved his family and helped others. Some of it(help to others) we will never know, as he didnot broadcast things like that. Ok, I think you get the drift of how I feel about Elvis. A couple of concert pics of how he looked when I saw him. Enjoy ladies! 1973 Aloha From Hawaii, broadcast via satellite.

Somewhere on tour, during the 70's

This is me last year on the stable tour, behind Graceland. This is the wonderful gal that oversees the stables and has for many years. She was delightful. Priscilla has rescued abused horses and this is one that will live out the rest of his life at Graceland. Elvis would be proud.
We will be seeing the recently re-released "Elvis On Tour" from 1972 at the historic Orpheum Theater on Sat night. Elvis used to watch movies there with the gang. We are staying at The Peabody, which will be another treat.
Have a great weekend!

Bedroom Pics

Hi All,
A couple of pictures of the downstairs bedroom. I painted it about 12 yrs ago and still love the color, so I haven't changed it. The curtains are Waverly. I have a comforter of the same pattern, but use it only when we have company. I am assuming you have figured out why??? Yes, Cocoa likes to take his nappies here! Sweet Cocoa...
Another view...

On the dresser. Me at Granny's farm with my arm around old Shep, by the well pump, looking out toward the barn. Granny must have snapped this when we were deep in thought :)

Me, Mom and Dad in the 70's at a wedding. This picture hangs in my my bedroom. Granny called us the three little bears...
I was late for Pink Saturday over at How Sweet The Sound, but will post for next time.
Also, linking up with Cielo at House in the Roses over at Show Off Your Cottage Monday.

Mary Tyler Moore Apartment

Hi Everyone,

You know what a big Mary fan I am, so I thought I would post a picture of her "tv apartment." I loved the stained glass window passthrough she had, so when we renovated The Daisy Inn, I tried to re-create my version. Here is the result. Mary's is first, mine is below.

Everyone have a great evening.
I am reposting over at Chari's at Happy To Design and Sunday Favorites.

Show and Tell Friday

As most of you know, I traveled to northern Illinois to attend my Aunt's 80th birthday party, hosted by her daughter, my cousin Susan. She is to my left next to my Aunt and my other cousin is to my right, my Aunt's other daughter. The young beauties are my cousin's daughters.
I thought I would show you a few pictures of my cousin's beautiful home. This is the breakfast room we are standing in...
Formal dining room...

Sorry this is blurry, but it is the family room...

Looking into the kitchen...

The tile work over the stove...

Cousin Robin's room :)

More to come...
