Fall At The Cape House

Hi All,
I am reposting today with the party over at The Inspired Room.

I haven't posted any exterior pics for awhile of the house, so I took some shots today to link up with The Tablescaper and Seasonal Sundays and Cielo over at Show Off Your Cottage Monday.
I have been trying some new techniques with the picture editor, trying to make things looks alittle spooky...

Do you see one of my lighted pumpkins peeking through the fence. It looks pretty spooky at night. I have them all lit up along the fence.

A beautiful sunny day in Illinois. Cocoa thinks so, too!

Famous TV Cops Friday

I know, changing again. I felt like I needed to post on the passing of James MacArthur, who played the original Danny Williams in Hawaii Five-O from the late Sixties and Seventies. I first saw him in Spencer's Mountain with Henry Fonda. He played "Clayboy." I was a preteen and fell inlove with that character. James was the adopted son of the movie and stage star, Helen Hayes. Didn't you love the opening song???
Danno, himself...

The big guy, Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord. He was cool!

Didn't you love the way Steve had that big black Mercury car and talked on that car radio. He had the best suits! lol
Anyway, we all loved it when Steve said, "bookem' Danno" at the end of the show. Rest In Peace, Danno...

My Grandparent's Home

Good Evening All,
I am so happy my computer is working again so I can join Suzanne over at The Coloradolady and Vintage Thingie Thursday , Brambleberry Cottage and Time Travel Thursday , Dayle over at A Collection of This and That and Simple Pleasures and Cindy at My Romantic Home and Show and Tell Friday. This is my grandparent's former home. We have been going to the hospital every Tues for the last six weeks to a wound specialist in Springfield, Il. My Dad's head is healing up nicely, so we are all happy about that. My maternal grandparents lived outside of Springfield, so I took my parents by the house they used to live in. This was a special treat for my Mom.
I have told you all about the bell that hangs in my kitchen. It was my Grandmother's. It used to hang in her enclosed back porch. I would ring it to let them know we had arrived.

They have sided over the lapboard siding and installed new windows...

Here is the back porch, just as we used to enter it through the door, however they have remodeled the old porch and expanded it. New large windows have been added to replace the original single glass, multi-paned windows... We drove through the circle drive, so I could snap these pictures.
I wish someone had been there for a tour, but at least my Mom had this treat of seeing the house again.

Famous "Gal Pals" Friday!

Yip, Tennis Girl is changing it up again from Famous Couples Friday. Mr Tennis always says, "Don't walk in Robin's house in the dark, cuzzzzzz you never know where the funiture will be moved to!" Growing up in my small home town, every Saturday, I went with my best childhood friend to the local drug store, where they also had a lunch counter and a few booths. We would eat cheeseburgers, bbq chips, cokes, Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Enid, the owner was a wonderful cook! We always looked for the newest Archie comic books. My favorites were Betty and Veronica, Pep and Laugh, all in the Archie series. I still pull them out and ready them. They are wonderful and definitely illustrate the sign of the times. Most of mine were bought in the late 60's and early 70's, so I have posted comics from that era. How fitting for tennis girl to post!
Of course, Betty and Veronica were always battling over the attentions of Archie...

I loved to see what fashions they came up with for the girls!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Hi All,
I am linking up tonight with Suzanne over at Coloradolady and Vintage Thingie Thursday , Miss Mustard Seed and Furniture Friday and Show and Tell Friday over with Cindy at My Romantic Home. Please stop over and check out all the neat parties! This is my little sewing rocker and my fireside stool. Both are in the Early American style that I love so much. Both are maple and I found them both at antique stores. I suspect the pieces are from a period from the 1930's-1960's. You never know, as the Early American furniture was used throughout these decades. Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Tabletop Tuesday and Red

Hi All,
I am happy to be linking up with Marty over at A Stroll Thru Life and Tabletop Tuesday and Sue over at It's a Very Cherry World and Rednesday. Just thought I would show my counter as it usually is. One of my Longaberger baskets which holds my instant Starbucks coffee and coupons, my brand spankin new Cuisinart toaster, another Longaberger which holds my tea and on top of it is where I always put my cell phone and sunglasses, next my Kuerig coffee maker and a cup my daughter brought back to me with "Robins" painted on it from Ireland, lastly, my KitchenAid mixer, a gift from my parent's, one year for Christmas.
A close up of my little "retro styled" Cuisinart toaster. It is brushed nickle...

This is the tabletop on my roll around island. It is so handy to be able to move it to wherever I need it!

Heart of the Home!!!

Hi All,
I think we have all been waiting for our Sheila's Heart of the Home party over at Note Songs :) I am also linking up with Cindy over at My Romantic Home and Show and Tell Friday and Ceilo at House in the Roses and Show Off Your Cottage Monday. Please come inside. Theodore is waiting for you!
I wonder how many times I have opened the original kitchen door into my house??? I love turning that door knob.

This is my view whenever I come into my home. We all enter through the kitchen door.

The cooking area of the kitchen. The cabinets are original. The house was built in 1939, so they have been here for awhile :)

The breakfast nook... The bell on the wall belonged to my maternal Grandmother. So nice to have in my home.
Thanks for coming into my "Heart of the Home."

Seasonal Shelf

Good Evening All,
Hope you all have had a good start to the week. I am linking up with Marty over at A Stroll Thru Life and Tabletop Tuesday. This is a shelf that I change out, seasonally. Lots of treasures here. Our wedding photo, antique sifter, my Granny and the lamp of a dear lady that I recently purchased, at her estate sale.
See the little Mrs. Santa on top of my spice rack? One of my birthday gifts from my Mom and Dad. She is frying an egg :) (in a cast iron skillet, Miss BJ!)

Famous Couples Friday

Hi All,
Since we are in the "spooky"season, thought I would post a spooky couple. Herman and Lilly Munster. The Munsters aired from 1964-1966 one night a week. I loved the Munsters! Here is their spooky house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane...
Herman and Lilly played by Fred Gwynn and Yvonne DeCarlo. Yvonne was a big movie star way before she did The Munsters, and quite a beauty.
Hope you all have had a great Friday and a nice weekend!

What's Up???

Good Morning,
I went to my dashboard, like I do every morning to see what all of you are up to and my page looks different. The pictures are huge for the posts and I can't scroll down to the older posts to make sure I didn't miss anything. The page only lets me see about 10 of the lastest posts by all of you. Anyone else having this problem, if so what to do???
xoxo,
Robin

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Hi All,
I am linking up with Suzanne over at Coloradolady and VTT and Dayle over at A Little of This and That and Simple Pleasures. Please go over and check out all the treasures! I bought this little lamp a couple of weeks ago at an estate sale. It belonged to a very nice lady. She has been gone for a few years and her husband just passed away a few months ago. I will remember her whenever I look at her lamp :)

The chalk/bulletin board has been in the same place with this and that on it for over 20 yrs. The vintage phone hangs on the wall to complete the picture :)
Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Tabletop Tuesday

Hi All,
I am posting a few more shots of my dining/living area and some of the fall tabletops in that area. I am linking up over at Marty's at A Stroll Thru Life and Tabletop Tuesday. Please stop over and check out all the pretties! My Ethan Allen dining table. Sometimes I add a tablecloth and sometimes I just enjoy looking at the wood top.
My Early American hutch and one of the captain's chairs that I use at the table for extra seating...
The fireplace mantle. I brought over the "fox hunt" picture from the Inn...

A closer look...

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
I am posting alittle early for Movie Star Monday, but it will be a busy week ahead for me. I turned on Turner Classic Movies this morning and there she was, Myrna Loy. What a dame! How many times do you hear that in an old 30's movie??? Myrna was born in Montana in 1905 and passed in 1993 at 88. She was such a delight to watch. Classy and snappy. Loved her. An early shot, probably from the 20's...
The Thin Man with William Powell and Asta. What a great series of Thin Man Movies they did. They are preserved for us to watch over and over. Wonderful!

A shot of two great movie stars. Myrna and the great Gloria Swanson, probably in the late 70's...

Tabletop Tuesday

Hi Gang,
Well, not exactly a tabletop. Let's call it a fridge top! This is what I have sitting atop the big white fridge. My yellow metal picnic basket, Debbie Mumm dinner plate, one of my roosters and my vintage Skotch Kooler, yes I know Susan :)

A closer look...

Another...

I'm not sure, but I think Theodore might be bored with all of Mommy's picture taking???
I am linking up with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life over at Tabletop Tuesday and Rednesday over at It's a Very Cherry World.
I am reposting for Sunday Favorites over at Chari's and Happy To Design.
