San Francisco Part 2

Hi All,
Boy is it HOT in Illinois! 100+ for the past couple of days. Makes me long for that mid 50's we experienced in California. Here are pics of our trip to Napa Valley and Sonoma.

Here is the group in front of the castle.  It is an actual residence, that happens to be a winery...
The peacocks roaming around were beautiful!
Here is hubby watching the sheep, grazing...
Looking out onto the vineyards, from a castle window...
The dining room.  Very much like the Hearst Castle...
We had a private tour.  Our tour guide, Cindy was great.  This is one of the "caves" where the wine ages...
 Our private tasting.  Awesome!
On to Sonoma, where we lunched at Frances Ford Coppola's winery and restaurant...
Back in San Francisco for our final dinner together.
The bay bridge was our view from the restaurant...
What a great few days in California to celebrate hubby's boss' retirement!

San Francisco Part 1

Hi All,
We were in San Francisco last week for my husband's boss' retirement party. My hubby planned the whole trip for all of u,s and it was so much fun!
I am jumping all around with pictures, but first stop was Alcatraz...

The ferry ride over to Alcatraz Island.  Hubby on the left and his boss on the right...

Dan on the Hyde Street Pier...
Beautiful Lombard Street.  The crooked street...

At the bottom of Lombard Street...
You know how I loved the old show McMillan and Wife with Rock Hudson and Susan St. James.  We hunted down the house they used for the exterior shot of the McMillan's home.  It is atop Russian Hill.  That is me and the trash cans!

Back and Alcatraz I found three criminals behind bars, hubby, the boss and the sales manager for the company...  Oh my!
The Administration building for Alcatraz...
The whole gang for a lovely lunch on Pier 39...
Part 2 will be our tour of Napa and Sonoma valleys.  Stay tuned!

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
I had a fun day with my tennis girlfriend, playing golf.  We do love tooling around the links chatting and golfing, then off to lunch.  Here are some Movie Star Monday photos...
I think Liz was so pretty in this movie from the 60's, The Sandpiper with Richard Burton...
Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford in front of their home, Pickfair.  Always good to have a moat, lol
Jimmy Stewart and his poochies.  So cute...

Jimmy Cagney on his farm.  Love!

Hope you all have a great week!

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
Greta Garbo started it all with me and my love for olden movie stars. She was just so modern looking, so unlike all the other silent stars. She did transition into talkies, but chose to retire in 1942. She moved to NYC in an apartment along the East river, till her death. She was born in 1905 and passed in 1990. She collected art and owned lots of property in California, so she was wealthy when she died  She never married and had no children. I am going to post some pics of her, so just sit back and enjoy!

Hope you are all having a great start to the week!

I Love My Flair!!!

Hi All,
I am so excited to share with you my "new" olden Frigidaire Flair!  My girlfriend and I drove 3 hrs to get her in the pouring rain.  Yes, she is worth it!  Here is the before...
The after.  I went with a golden yellow for the walls...
Here she is at work.  Her first meal was salmon patties, butter beans and rolls in the oven...
The Frigidare Flair is really a workhorse.  This one is from 1965, and you can spy one just like it on the old TV show, Bewitched. :)
