My Galley Kitchen

Good Morning All,

Thought I show off alittle of my cottage kitchen at the Inn. This is operation central for me. I am linking up and reposting with Chari over at Happy to Design and Sunday Favorites. This space was falling down walls and ceilings, broken concrete floors and used for storage when we bought the property.

No blueprints for my contractor and me, we layed down 2x4's to divide rooms and just visually designed my little galley kitchen. All cabinets are hand made in his shop, along with the countertops and bar area. The second picture is a view from the living room and my attempt at duplicating those great old shutters that divided Laura Petry's kitchen from her living room, on the old Dick Van Dyke Show. :)

  1. That second shot really does look like Mary's kitchen on the show! What a cute little kitchen!
    Happy Monday!

  2. Oh, what a darling kitchen! You did a great job in eyeing your design. I did love that old Dick Van Dyke Show and yes, I agree with Carol - your kitchen does look like Mary's! So charming!

  5. One of my favorite kitchens was a long-ago galley style - so efficient. Sometimes a country kitchen with table is highly over rated - especially when one is trying to get things done!

  9. Great job. Who needs blueprints when you have TV shows as inspiration? Have a great rest of the weekend. Rosemary

  10. Mary's kitchen on the MTM show also had a roll-back shutter seperating the kitchen from the living room. I liked her 70's apartment better, with the balcony off the living room that she never once used... I guess Mary just had a thing for shutters..

  11. Hello my friend...

Ohhh, I just love your galley kitchen! You sure did a fabulous job designing it! I love the colors that you chose...that pretty sunny yellow looks sooo pretty with the bright white cabinets! By the way, I love the cabinets! I enlarged all of your photos so I could "drink in" all the lovely details...sooo pretty!!! Girl, I just giggled when I seen your louvered doors and bar...you're absolutely right...it does look like Laura's kitchen! I had forgotten about that old show...watched it many times when I was a kid!

Well my friend, I'm so very happy to have you join in with Sunday Favorites this week...what a great post to share with us! I love your kitchen!!! I also wanted to say Happy Anniversary to you and your dear husband! Sending you many blessings for another wonderful and happy year together! Thank you for your sweet note and anniversary well wishes to honey and me as well! I guess June really is a busy month for weddings/anniversaries! I have had so many tell me that they too were celebrating their wedding anniversary! Have a fabulous day and enjoy your honey, my friend!!!
