Vintage Magazine Monday

Good Morning All,
This is The American Home Magazine from 1956, featuring Bing Crosby's vacation home in Idaho

The interior color shots are an intersting blend of a photo/drawing. The colors are really vibrant and wonderful, tho.

  1. Hey Robin! Where in Idaho was Bing's retreat? Was it in Sun Valley? I love to see vintage magazines. When I was a young girl, my parents built an addition to our house. It was a "family room" and many of the ideas for the room came from the pages of Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I still remember that room fondly. It had a cathedral ceiling, a dutch door that led to the back patio (loved that door) and a square bay window with a window seat and bookcases on either side.

    Love,
    Susan and Bentley

  2. That room is timeless - like your Cape Cod house!
I always love a Dutch door, too.
These vintage magazines are a treat!

  3. Hi again Robin! Alpine Lake is in northern Idaho, north of Coeur d'Alene. It is absolutely beautiful up there. When Bing lived there it was probably even more remote than it is now. There are lots of glacier lakes up there and heavily forested mountains. Lana Turner grew up in that area of the state. Thanks for giving me the name of the lake so I could google map it!

    Love,

  5. Will you look at that fireplace? How gorgeous is that! I wonder who lives in it now, and if they've kept it the way it was. Keep the old mags coming. I love Vintage Magazine Monday!
