I'm Changing It Up a Bit!

Good Morning All,
I am late getting out Vintage Magazine Monday. There were so many great parties this week to join, I just couldn't pass up, so I got all wrapped up in them. I thought I might change things up a bit and have Movie Star Monday(on Tues this week!) My first entry is the gal that got me started in loving old Hollywood, when I read a book about her many years ago. Greta Garbo. She was known simply as "The Face." I think you will see why when you look at her pictures. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1905 and died in NYC, where she had lived, after retiring from pictures in 1942. She died in 1990. The Great Garbo... From the film "Queen Christina,"(1933) based on the life of the Queen of Sweden
From the film, "The Single Standard." (1929)

That hat! Too cool or what???
Garbo was different from the start when she came to America in the twenties. Most of the silent actresses were short and plump. She was tall 5'7", thin, and had long straight hair. She is very modern looking, even for today. Hope you have enjoyed this little segment on Greta Garbo.

  3. I'll never forget Camille, the very first movie I ever saw Greta Garbo in. It also started my love for Robert Taylor! She was so incredibly beautiful. It's going to be 89 and sticky today, so I think it's the perfect time to watch Grand Hotel. Again!
