Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
Hope you are all having a good Monday! When I started to collect on Carole Lombard in my early 20's( a LONG time ago) I saw a picture of the ranch that she and Clark Gable shared and fell inlove with it! I have been lucky enough to stand at the edge of the drive and peek through the gates, as the house still stands today, in Encino, CA. The Gables on the ranch...
Front view of the home. Carole bought the property in 1939 for $50,000. It had alot of acreage with the home. Now it has all been turned into a subdivision. When I saw this picket fence, it started my love for them.

The arbor and gate leading to the home...

A rare glimpse of the living rooom. All Early American furnishings. Carole had the matching sofas done in yellow and the drapes had a red and green hollyhock pattern.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Gable's beloved ranch. Clark lived there until his death in the early 60's.

  1. Thanks for sharing Robin. Anything regarding the fabulous Carole Lombard, I'm immediately interested in it. She is my all time favorite. When it's her turn to be my classic movie goddess, trust me I plan on making it a big deal. Once again, thanks for sharing this wonderful post. And I didn't know that Clark stayed there until his death.

  3. Some lovely photos...are the black-and-white ones from the time Clark and Carole resided there, or are they more recent?

I'm not sure I'm familiar with you, although this is a splendid blog. Since you are such an avid Lombard fan, I think you will truly enjoy my site dedicated to her in particular and classic Hollywood in general. It's called "Carole & Co."; we've been up for more than three years, with over 1,250 entries and all sorts of rare images. If you haven't checked us out before, by all means do so now. We're at
