Mother Daughter Trip!

Happy Weekend All, Some of you know that my daughter attended Columbia College in Chicago, so Momma used to get up there as much as I could over a 4 yr period. We had so much fun on my visits, but she is not longer there, so these trips ended. We usually go somewhere once a year, so we decided to head back to Chicago to do some of our favorite things! Yay!!! The lobby at the beautiful Palmer House. My favorite hotel to stay at in Chicago. This is where we hang in the evening to people watch, sip a drink and talk :)
The Walnut Room in Marshall Fields on State Street. Sorry, but I can't bring myself to say Macy's. Here is our table. The flower show was at the store, so live flowers everywhere! What luck!

Looking down from an upper floor... One of a local florist display... Looking up at the beautiful mosaic ceiling...

Another haunt of ours, The historic Berghoff...
A menu from the 1930's hangs on the wall...
Let's go inside...

Lot's of fun was had and I so always enjoy the windy city!!!

  1. Robin, You brought back some great mother daughter memories for me! Mom and I use to take the train up and stay at the palmer house, and yes eat at the Walnut Room. The last time we went with Mark and his wife, and Bob and stayed at the Palmer and ate at Berghoff's...so glad it is reopened. Sure miss those days so enjoy them with Taylor.

  4. Robin, you had a nice trip to the windy city with your daughter, I love Chicago, haven't gone there for a very long time as I'm from NY, so when I go to the USA I go to NY to visit cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, but I would love to go back there too and go visit this great hotel. Thank you for sharing.

  11. I enjoyed seeing all the photos, Robin. One of my favorite Mother's Day gifts, a few years ago, was when my girls and grandgirls took me to Chicago for the weekend. I went with one daughter and granddaughter by train from St Louis and my other two daughters and baby granddaughter flew. They thought that would work better for the baby. Nowadays I am sure Miss Gabi would love the train ride...although she likes to fly, too.
    Happy memories!

And I know what you mean about Marshall Fields/Macys. I worked at a May Co. store in STL, Famous Barr for a number of years.:-)

And the flower show, how fun is that!
I still think Marshall Fields too. We lived in Illinois until I was 13 and always went to Chicago at Christmas time.

  22. I love Chicago! I've only been there once, but I loved every minute of it. That's also the first place I ever saw fireflies! Just walking along in Grant Park and there they were. I hope we get to go back again.
