I turned on TCM today and there was Barbara Stanwyck starring in "BabyFace." 1933. She was not the most beautiful star out there, but boy could this girl act.... She was born in 1907 and passed in 1990.
She was so spunky in all her roles...
She was married to heartthrob, Robert Taylor at the height of her career, for 12 yrs. They made a very handsome couple and lived on a ranch in the San Fernando valley, very much like Gable and Lombard...
I think I would like a golf game with this group. I could be Mr. Gable's partner! lol
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor...
Here she is on the 1960's when she starred in the tv series, "The Big Valley."
I believe her last tv role was in "Dynasty" in the 80's. My favorite role of hers is "Double Indemnity" from the 40's, with Fred MacMurray. She is wonderful in it!
She was in one of my favorite shows growing up. Wagon Train. Loved her. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memories! Visting you from the Bunny Hop.
ReplyDeleteI aways Loved "The Big Valley"! I used to watch the reruns every afternoon when I was in the 10th grade.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie with Barbara is Christmas in Connecticut. Watching this movie is a holiday tradition for our family.

She was always one of my favorites, too. Boy, she could really play a mean part.
ReplyDeleteTwo things I loved her in was
"Sorry, Wrong Number" and I absolutely LOVED her in the tv mini series,THE THORNBIRDS. I was always sooo in love with Richard Chamberlain and he was also MAJOR good in this series.
Gosh, now I want to see it again. :))
I do love your Movie Mondays.

We just watched The Furies with Barbara Stanwyck--it was great! I love classic movies, and she is a favorite of mine!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree that she was able to be convincing in her acting roles. I am surprised to see how tiny she appears in that picture of her and Robert Taylor. But then everyone is starting to look tiny to me...
Thanks for sharing at my party this week!

Christmas in Connecticut is my favorite BS role and I agree with BJ ~ she was great in Sorry Wrong Number too. She had real talent and I always have the impression that she was really having fun.
